The teenage years can be an unsettling time; with a combination of great fun, a desire for independence, and a tremendous amount of stress and sometimes trauma. They also can feel a greater need to perform well academically and fit into social circles. All of this can take a toll on a teen’s mental health and overall well-being.

Common Life Challenges Among Teens
Teens can often face some serious life challenges that impact their mental health and well-being.
- Low self-esteem– Being able to identify positive characteristics about self ,negative self-talk , fear of rejection, comparing yourself to others, avoiding self-expression, and avoiding social contact can all be signs of low self-esteem and make it difficult to manage your problems.
- Excessive worry/fear– A little worrying and fear is normal in life and can make sense considering the situation. But excessive worrying or fear combined with negative and irrational thoughts can cause disruption to everyday routine.
- Unhealthy Interpersonal Relationships– Your teen years are supposed to be where you learn how to form safe and healthy relationships with friends, parents, teachers, and others. There is often a desire to fit in and be independent. However, if you start to find yourself struggling with maintaining healthy relationships and developing your own identity conflict can arise.
